The network diagram of the CERN node is shown below:
- Network Diagram in CERN
CERN is connected to UNIGE by a pair of dark fibers over a distance of 14.4 km (quantum channel and administration). A second pair of fiber is used for an pre-existing 10 Gbps link to transfer data collected in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the CERN for processing at the computing centre of UniGE.
CERN is also connected to HEPIA over a distance of 17.1 km by a pair of dark fibers(quantum channel and administration).
High-speed encryption is demonstrated over the existing 10 Gbps link between CERN and UniGE, using idQuantique’s Ethernet encryption appliance.
