The network diagram of the UNIGE node is shown below:
The UNIGE node is connected to the CERN node by two pairs of dark fibers over a distance of 14.4 km. The first pair of fibers is used for the quantum channel and the administration and key management channel. The second pair is used for a a pre-existing 10 Gbps link used to transfer data collected in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the CERN for processing in the computing center of UNIGE.
UNIGE is also connected to HEPIA over a distance of 3.7 km by a pair of dark fibers, which constitute the classical channel and the quantum channel.
High-speed encryption is demonstrated over the 10 Gbps link between the CERN and UNIGE nodes, using idQuantique’s high speed Layer2 encryption appliance.
